I boast the appearance of a traditional orange, akin to the familiar navel variety. However, what sets me apart is my striking crimson-hued flesh, reminiscent of freshly spilled blood. Beyond my captivating appearance, blood oranges offer a nuanced flavor profile, combining hints of raspberry sweetness with a subtle grapefruit-like bitterness. Perfect for infusing sangria with zest or adding a burst of flavor to icing with grated rind.

But wait, there’s more. A single fruit of mine packs a punch, delivering double the recommended daily intake of vitamin C and serving as an excellent source of dietary fiber.

Derived from a cross between tangerine and pomelo, I thrive in a spacious container of over 35 liters. With proper pruning, I can be maintained at a manageable height of 2 meters. Ideal growing conditions include well-drained soil and ample sunlight, ranging from 80% to full exposure. Patience is key, as it takes 2-3 years for me to blossom and yield fruit, typically in the months of August or September.
